Maybe you know the feeling – you have a growing collection of fabric scraps that you just can’t bear to throw away. Those beautiful little pieces are too pretty for the trash, but too small for most projects… or are they?
Today I’m sharing my favorite ways to transform those fabric leftovers into something useful and beautiful. Let’s dive into these scrap-busting projects that will help you declutter your craft space while creating something amazing!
1. Fabric Dog Pendant
Making cute little accessories and pendants is a wonderful way of using up these fabric bits as shown here by thesweetstitches. She creates dogs but you could really create any motive your heart desires!
2. Fabric Pouch
Pouches are useful and we can never have enough. As they are easy to make, it’s the perfect way of using up old fabrics where you really love the motives and patterns!

3. Fabric Collage Art
One other way to use up fabric bits is simply to create a collage art piece as you would do with paper. This is a wonderful way to incorporate embroidery as well.
4. Hair Accessories
Bows, scrunchies,… these accessories are perfect as they are small and look best when made in a patchwork style!
5. Chunky Fabric Yarn
A perfect way to up-cycle fabric scraps is to create new material for other projects! Creating these fabric yarns is so easy and they have incredible texture and can be re-used in other projects (e.g. weaving projects)

6. Needle Pillows
Needle Pillows are so handy and can come in many different forms. These strawberries and acorns are just two examples of what is possible.
7. Big Bug for the Wall
I kept my favorite idea for the last. This is such an amazing idea. The bug is soft and chunky and just the perfect wall hanging.
What I love most about scrap projects is how they connect us to our crafting history. Each piece tells a story of a previous project, and combining them creates something completely new and unique to you.
Do you have a favorite way to use fabric scraps? I’d love to hear about it in the comments! And if you make any of these projects, please tag me in your photos—seeing your creations absolutely makes my day.
