Hey creative friends! 🏺
Can we talk about how air dry clay is having a major moment right now? I’ve been absolutely obsessed with this stuff lately, and honestly, it’s the perfect craft medium for anyone who wants to make beautiful things without needing a pottery wheel or kiln situation.
I started playing with air dry clay during one of those restless Sunday afternoons and three hours later, I had created the cutest little trinket dish that people literally ask where I bought it. The best part? Air dry clay is super affordable, incredibly forgiving, and you can make things that look professionally made with just your hands and some basic tools.

1. Mirror Frame
Mirrors are always a fun way to accentuate any wall. Why not make a really cook frame made out of clay?

2. Fruit Trays
Trays for jewelry and little thingys you have laying around always come in handy. I love these cute fruits with faces!

3. Trays with Cute Little Characters
Another version of a clay tray. This time the creator put a little frog character on it, so adorable!

4. Cute Charms for Keychain or Jewellery
There are so many charms you can make with air dry clay. Your imagination is your limit.

5. Mugs and Coasters
an obvious idea is mugs and coasters. You don’t need a fancy clay wheel to make nice pottery, your hands are enough and the result gives this nice handmade structure.

6. Vases with incorporated Gemstones
What a great idea to incorporate gemstones into clay pieces. You could do this not only with vases but also with so many other pieces.

7. Hand Painted Jewelry
Combine your clay charms with pearls, crystals, chains etc and you can make your fully custom jewelery.

8. Tic Tac Toe Game in Fruit Design
This is such a fun idea and really simple to create. Start with a plate and add the grid. Then you can become really creative with the stones and the coloring. I love this waffle design!

9. Mushroom Candle Holder
Candle holders are another great idea. I really love these mushrooms but you could create really any form for your candles.

10. Handpainted Cutlery
Another fun idea are these cutlery pieces. Just make sure you don’t wash them in the dish wash machine, as the air dry clay and the colors used are not always suitable for it.
Making It Your Own
Don’t feel pressure to follow tutorials exactly. Some of my favorite pieces happened when I completely abandoned the plan and just let the clay guide me. The “mistakes” often turn into the most interesting design elements.
Experiment with different textures, colors, and forms. Air dry clay is forgiving enough that you can afford to be experimental without wasting expensive materials.
The whole air dry clay trend feels like a return to making things with our hands in a world that’s increasingly digital. There’s something deeply satisfying about creating functional, beautiful objects from scratch, and the imperfect, handmade quality adds so much personality to your space.
Happy creating! 🎨✨
