Hey crafty friends! So excited to share one of my favorite creative projects with you today—DIY phone cases! Let’s be real, our phones are practically extensions of ourselves at this point, so why not give them a personal touch that reflects your unique style?
I’ve been customizing my own phone cases for years now, and not only is it super fun, but it also saves money and gives me something totally unique. No more awkward “which phone is mine?” moments when everyone has the same case!
Let’s dive into some of my favorite techniques that work whether you’re starting with a plain clear case or revamping an old one you’re bored with!
1. Ocean Case
2. Beading Phone Case
3. Little Bows
4. Magazine Collage Phone Cases
Cut out interesting words, images, and patterns from magazines, arrange them on your case, and seal with Mod Podge. This is such a fun way to create a mood board you can carry around!
5. Painted Flowers
Grab some acrylic paints and fine brushes to create a custom design on a clear or solid-colored case. Simple patterns like dots, stripes, or botanical outlines work great even if you’re not a professional artist. Don’t forget to seal it with clear acrylic spray!
6. Silicon Figure Phone Case
7. Pressed Flower Collage
This is one of my absolute favorites! Collect and press small flowers and leaves between book pages for a week, arrange them on a clear phone case, and seal with clear nail polish or resin. The delicate botanical look is so pretty and perfect for spring and summer.
8. Polymere Clay Case
Use polymer clay to create tiny sculptures, bake according to package directions, then attach to your case with strong adhesive.
Tips for DIY Phone Case Success
- Clean your case thoroughly before starting any project to ensure proper adhesion
- Let each layer dry completely before adding another
- Test your materials on a small corner first to make sure they work with your specific case
- Take phone measurements carefully if creating inserts or attachments
- Apply multiple thin layers of sealant rather than one thick coat for best durability
What I love most about DIY phone cases is that they’re relatively low-risk crafts. If you don’t love how it turns out, you can usually remove the design with rubbing alcohol and start over, or just grab another inexpensive clear case as your canvas!
Plus, when people ask “Where did you get that amazing phone case?” there’s something so satisfying about being able to say “I made it myself!”
